2024 Journalist of the Year
Angela Ganote
Angela Ganote is a Hoosier with 26 years in the business. She grew up in Brownsburg, then worked at WLFI in Lafayette, WSBT in South Bend, and WCMH in Columbus, Ohio.
Angela graduated from Indiana University and had no idea she would go into TV until a chance meeting with fellow news anchor Anne Marie Tiernon.
What I love….
Making people smile, giving people a voice, and seeking justice for those wrongfully accused.
My other job…
I actually have two full-time jobs and my favorite is being a mom and wife. I have two teenagers who play travel sports, keeping the family busy at the baseball fields and volleyball courts.
We also love….
Football! We are huge Colts fans and please don’t send me nasty emails, but we are big Cowboys fans too. I married a man from Pennsylvania who grew up a Dallas fan.
My greatest TV moment…
Winning 4 Emmys for important stories on the people that really matter. I was able to tell the story of one of my fellow cheerleaders at I.U. She lost an amazing battle with ALS, but before she died she was an inspiration many will never forget.
My worst TV moment….
That one time when someone turned on a leaf blower and my top went flying!!!
If I had free time, I would…
Love to spend my day at the beach! One of our family’s favorite spots is Marco Island, Florida. We love to fish and take a boat out on the water.

Angela's Nomination
Submitted by Kent Winingham
Angela Ganote's investigative journalism and breaking coverage of the story behind. Dr. Donald Cline utilizing his own sperm to artificially inseminate unknowing women has allowed dozens of women, husbands, and children to have their voices heard and stories told. She has empowered these families, and many used this motivation to pursue civil action against the Dr. for this unfathomable conduct. Her coverage was nothing short of tenacious, and it embodies the tenacity trial lawyers seek to achieve when it comes to representing injured persons. Her reporting has promoted the pursuit of civil justice, encouraged the formulation of legislation, and will help to hold future nefarious physicians accountable.
